Harvard students University staged a rally outside the premises of Harvard University on Tuesday afternoon shortly before President SBY arrived to give a general lecture. The students thanked the president’s leadership and Indonesia for the efforts in dealing with climate change. They students also brought with them posters carrying messages like “Thank You, Indonesia“, “Harvard says: Indonesia, Our Climate Change Hero“, “President Yudhoyono Climate Change World Leader” and “The Earth Our Future, Thank You Yudhoyono”.

One of those students, Michelle Kissenkoetter, told a journalist: “We are Harvard students from diverse nationalities. We want Indonesian people know that what their leader has done has been greatly appreciated by America and the world.” Meanwhile, another student, Dominic Maxwell said that Indonesia had contributed a lot through the Climate Change Summit held in Bali two years ago that could bring together countries in the world to hold other meetings in dealing with climate change. The Summit in Bali, in December 2009 has led to another summit that is being scheduled to be held in Copenhagen concerning climate change.

It is expected to yield global pacts about necessary measures prior to the completion of Kyoto Protocol in 2012 about climate change mitigation.

Harvard University do require that the students and academics to register far in advance to get tickets to follow the public lecture by President Yudhoyono.
